The 2009 budget of the City of Banja Luka amounts to 184.612.870 KM. Mayor Davidović stressed out that the budget was development-oriented and that both rural and urban developmental aspects were equally addressed.

"The budget leans on the City Development Strategy so that the continuity in the development of Banja Luka as the biggest and most complex community in the Republic of Srpska is maintained", Mayor said. "All the budgetary beneficiaries from the previous years will be covered by the budget funds. The suggestions made during public discussions would be abided by to the extent realistically possible", he added.

"We shall be continuously observing the budget implementation throughout 2009 and will make necessary corrections if a given situation requires", Mayor said. After the budget was voted favorably, Slobodan Gavranović, City Council Chairman, said that Banja Luka`s citizens could expect the stabile and continuous development of the city in line with planning documentation.

"Even though we are nearing the imminent economic crisis all the projects are going to be implemented as the budget funds are directed towards the city development. This year reaped good results in terms of the City Council and the City Administration operation so we intend to keep it up in the year to come", concluded Chairman Gavranović.
