In the school year 2011/2012 the City of Banja Luka will provide 911 high school students with scholarships. This was confirmed by Ljiljana Radovanović, the Head of Sector for Social Affairs in the Banja Luka City Administration. She said that most of the scholarships had been granted based on social status – 447 of them. They are followed by the scholarships granted based on the success of students – 431. The number of scholarships granted to students that obtain their education in deficitary professions amount to 33 this year.
“It is significant to point out that in the past ten years, which means ever since scholarships have been provided to pupils and students in this way, the City of Banja Luka has positively responded to all requests for scholarships provided that required conditions have been met”, Mrs Radovanović said and added that 1006 pupils and students had applied for this year`s competition for scholarships.
Based on the Decision on Fixing Amount of City Budget Funds for Scholarships and on Amount of Scholarships and Deficitary Professions for the school year 2011/2012, the total of funds for scholarships to be provided to high school students and first cycle university students from the City budget amounted to 1.600.000 BAM.
