The construction of the modern city center began with the establishment of the Vrbas banovina, the administrative unit within the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, and after ban Svetislav Tisa Milosavljević came to Banja Luka in 1929. He was the greatest reformer and builder in the history of Banja Luka because he got many buildings built during his office (1929-1934) – ban`s administration building, Banski dvor, National Theater, Palas Hotel, Sokolski dom, city park, Museum of Ethnography, schools, hospitals, etc. Ban was also the godfather in the 1929 consecration of Christ the Savior Church, which was later bombarded and destroyed in 1941.
The church was rebuilt in 2004 and it is one of the most beautiful Orthodox churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina today.
