On December 04 the Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska Government, Milorad Dodik, and the Mayor of Banja Luka, Dragoljub Davidović, officially put into operation the newly constructed bridge across the Vrbas River in the Ada suburb near the district heating company “Toplana”.

While opening the bridge, Prime Minister Dodik said that the Government of the Republic of Srpska and the City of Banja Luka had left another important project behind. He stressed out that this was one of the capital projects in Banja Luka and announced the construction of other infrastructure facilities in the city.

“I am proud of Banja Luka as whenever I travel abroad and meet the people who have visited the city I hear nothing but praises on the account of city`s appearance and cleanness”, Dodik said. Additionally, he announced the adaptation of the existing city`s stadium to make it available for hosting football games at an international level. “The motorway Banja Luka-Gradiška will be finished until Spring, when the construction of Mahovljani loop will also start. The loop will connect the motorway Banja Luka-Gradiška to the yet to be constructed motorway Banja Luka-Doboj”, Dodik said.

Dragoljub Davidović, the Mayor, said in his statement to the gathered press that this was the first project implemented from the funds raised from the issued city`s bonds, stressing out that 5.277.138 KM had been invested in the bridge construction. “This is an immensely important infrastructure project for the City of Banja Luka and its significance primarily reflects in connecting the narrow city area to the newly constructed Olympic swimming pool and to the main road M4 Banja Luka-Čelinac”, Davidović stressed out. He added that the road at Živojin Mišić Boulevard had been simultaneously finished and that too at the section stretching out from the Eastern Transit to the bridge across the Vrbas, including the complete infrastructure and amounting to 757.317,96 KM.

The newly constructed bridge is 90 meters long and 14 meters wide with two tracks, each 7 meters wide, and with cycling and walking paths included.

The foundation stone for the bridge across the Vrbas river was laid on September 08th.
